New Holland Adds Real-Time Kernel Processing Monitoring

New Holland is adding ForageCam to its FR Forage Cruiser lineup for the 2027 season, giving producers and forage harvester operators access to real-time kernel processing scores (KPS) during harvest.

The system uses a spout-mounted camera and AI-powered vision to continuously analyze chopped corn crop flow. Operators can monitor processing performance and compare the results with a predetermined target KPS.

Real-Time Processing Data

ForageCam is designed to continuously monitor the percentage of fully processed kernels and use that information to automatically adjust the kernel processor to reach the operator’s desired processing level.

The system is intended to help identify underprocessing during harvest while supporting forage quality, productivity, fuel consumption, and machine wear.

KPS monitoring and mapping data can be viewed in the cab through the IntelliView™ IV Plus display. The information can also be accessed later through reports and map layers in FieldOps™.

“For dairy and beef producers, feed quality is the most important indicator of forage harvester performance,” says Patrick Weitzel, forage harvester marketing manager for New Holland North America. “With ForageCam, producers and custom operators are getting a real-time KPS and can assess right away if the quality is high enough the moment their forage is running through the harvester. In the past, we had to guess from the cab what the score was or send samples to the lab to determine the KPS. Now, we instantly know the forage score and quality.”

Adjusting for Livestock Needs

Producers and operators can set a desired KPS based on livestock type. New Holland says the system is intended to help ensure corn kernels are properly cracked to support nutrient absorption and animal nutrition.

The company also states that optimizing kernel processing can contribute to milk production per head and meat quality.

ForageCam ordering is now open for the 2027 season. The system will be displayed in New Holland’s booth No. 202 at the 2026 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa.
