Maintenance Course Helps Ag Teams Harness Data
ARMI’s new certification helps farm operations use data to cut downtime and improve equipment reliability.
The American Reliability & Maintenance Institute (ARMI) launched a new training course aimed at helping agriculture professionals reduce equipment downtime and improve reliability through smarter use of maintenance data.
The Certified Maintenance Data Analyst (CMDA) course will be held June 24–27, 2025, at the Francis Tuttle Technology Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It offers a practical, hands-on approach to understanding maintenance metrics and turning raw operational data into useful insights.
“Most teams collect mountains of maintenance data but don’t know how to actually use it,” said Justin Smith, ARMI co-founder and instructor. “The CMDA program shows you how to connect the dots and uncover what’s working, what’s wasting time and how to fix it.”
The program is designed for asset managers, reliability engineers, planners and anyone in charge of maintaining equipment or tracking performance. It teaches key skills including trend analysis, data visualization and maintenance reporting, as well as preventive maintenance strategies.
“This course and certification were designed with real teams in mind,” added Dr. John Ross, ARMI co-founder. “We make complex topics approachable, and the instruction is rooted in practical application. Students walk away with tools they can start using immediately.”
For farmers, agribusinesses or co-ops managing fleets or field equipment, this certification offers a clear way to turn data into uptime and reliability.
