Bobcat Company and The Salvation Army are using National Preparedness Month this September to encourage readiness for natural disasters and emergencies.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported 27 weather and climate disasters in 2024, resulting in costs exceeding $182 billion. With hurricane season peaking in September, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency warns of flooding, debris, power outages and extended recovery.

The Salvation Army recommends several preparedness steps: create an emergency plan, build a supply kit with essentials like water and food, learn CPR and first aid, review insurance policies and connect with local response agencies.

Bobcat has supported disaster response by providing equipment such as forklifts, generators and light towers to The Salvation Army. These tools are used for unloading supplies, powering mobile kitchens and supporting safe recovery operations.

“Bobcat equipment is often at the forefront of helping communities rebuild after natural disasters,” said Mike Ballweber, president of Doosan Bobcat North America, Inc.
